Scaling is an adjustment of the workout to your individual needs. Scaling is not an apology or an excuse. And it’s not some bullshit way to talk down to yourself or anybody else.

Make it your mantra, your motto, your lifeline.
This is going to sound stupid and sappy and ridiculous, but here it is: Whatever you face today, put more love into it.
It’s the space you go to in the workout. When pain is a big black blanket trying to suffocate you, you go into the tunnel and stay there.
Because there’s no point in picking up the bar if you’re not ready to lift it.
One failed lift won’t make you a bad person, a worse parent, a horrible daughter, an inadequate brother. It won’t even make the cashier at the market put your eggs on the bottom of the bag.
Your kid wants help on his math homework? Forget that. Teach him to snatch instead.
All men reveal themselves. Given enough time and enough trials, there is no heart that can verily be cloaked from the light of awareness. Every dark heart, every mean deed …
