Living Well Is The Best Revenge

We all have someone who did us wrong.

Someone who walked into our lives and did horrible things, and then walked casually out again, so easy for them, like a summer breeze lightly lifting the bedroom curtains.

Someone whose deeds still weigh on us, long after they are gone.

Some of us can forgive and forget, but some folks have a harder time with that.

So, if you can't forget what happened to you, then remember that feeling. Really remember it and use it.

If you can't rise above, then rise through.

The next time you're stuck in the middle of a bad workout? Think of who hurt you.

The next time you don't want to pick up the barbell and do 9 more thrusters? Remember that a**hole.

The next time the workout is about to defeat you? When you're hurt and tired and ready to yell "No mas" and just give the f*** up? Remember that jerk and rise the hell up for one more rep. And another. And another.

Because if you're going to keep the anger – if you won't give it up – then make damn sure to use it.

If you can't get rid of the pain, then use the pain.

Use every last breath and hurt and gut punch that ever came your way. Remember when you were down and they were kicking the shit out of you. Remember it all. And let it drive you through and beyond. If you're going to carry that weight, use it.

And then, if you do the hard work to get past it, one day, like a freakin' miracle, you'll find you can't find the pain anymore. It will be gone. Disappeared. Like it rode that breeze out a different open window.

And it will be absolutely no coincidence that you'll find you don't need the pain anymore either. You can do better without it.

You'll be free. And so much stronger than you ever were before.

They say living well is the best revenge.

Well, maybe lifting well is the way to get there.
