What Words Are You Using?

  • Push.

  • Drive.

  • Pull.

  • Press.

  • Jump.

  • Land.

These are the words we use in the gym. Words of sport, words of achievement. What other words do you use often?

Pay attention to your words today. Really pay attention.

Do you use the word "sorry" truly in apology? Or are you asking some sort of permission from life?

One of the things that's always bugged me is how often people (including many women) will say "sorry" when they don't have to.

If you've injured someone (mentally, emotionally, physically) or you need to take leave in a social situation, then "sorry" is a great word.

But don't use the word "sorry" to shrink from life.

Stop smiling and saying "Sorry" when you really mean "That's the bar I want. Stay away from it." Or when you're dying to say "Yeah, I meant that. Deal with it."

Stand up and take control of your life – or someone else will.

Another one to think about: do you tell people "I'm just trying to help" when really you're trying to impose your will on them? Stop doing that.

Truly help people or get out of their way.

Your answers are not necessarily the best for everyone. (Nor are mine! Pick and choose what makes sense to you!)

Do I sound authoritative? Yup. It's the word choice. See, words matter.

Listen to your own word choices and learn something about yourself today. Then, sprinkle words of achievement and kindness everywhere.

Push. Drive. Pull. Press. Jump. Land. Love. Thank you.

See what happens.
