What If Your Moment Arrived Right Now?

What if your moment arrived today?

Right now. Your big opportunity. The moment you've been waiting for all your life:

  • the job

  • the love

  • the life

  • the future you always wanted

Any or all of these options. Here, right here, at your feet, there for the taking.

What would you do? Seriously, what would you do?

Would you grab it?

Or would you hesitate? Delay quite a bit. Call friends, email mentors, procrastinate so long that you miss it or you talk yourself out of it.

Are you one of those people who asks for a sign, then ignores it when it comes? (There are plenty of folks like that. If that's you, you're not alone.)

Or would you grab that chance and hang on for the ride, as long as it lasts?

Don't stress if you think you would wait quite a bit. Most people are going to wait. Most people aren't ready to fly without a parachute. That's understandable.

People have bills and families and credit card debt and hosts of responsibilities.

Some people will never grab that new job or kiss that girl. Some people will expire with their dreams inside of them.

They'll live good, productive lives, and people will say wonderful things about them when they die. We need those people too. Besides, who are we to say that's not a good life?

But the question I want you to answer is this: Is that you?

Are you willing to wait? Or are you ready to grab the moment and run? Are you ready to be so scared and lose everything? Or win everything? Could you handle the winning?

Maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

Maybe I'm dangerous. Because I'm the kind of person who jumps off the cliff and figures out how to fly on the way down.

This way is not for everyone.

In 2007, I stood in my garage in Connecticut and knew my moment was at hand. So I filled out an application online and opened the 250th CrossFit affiliate right there next to one squat rack, my mom's Honda, and some old cans of paint.

In fact, I even said to my (now-ex) husband then: "I have this weird feeling that if I do this ... our lives are going to change."

And oh boy they did.

That garage in Connecticut.

Crazy, right? But if I don't make that blind leap in 2007, everything turns out differently for me. I wouldn't be sitting here today in California, because that one daring leap led to another opportunity and another and another.

At each opportunity, I jumped. I leapt. I ran.

I missed trains, I made trains, I sometimes got my guts splattered all over the tracks. But I kept going.

One opportunity. Then another. And another.

So, what I want you to ask yourself is:

Are you ready to grab your big moment? And are you working towards it?

Or will you die with your dreams inside you?
