I Did It

"I did it."

Say this loudly when there is a mistake. Say it so others hear, and turn. That's okay. If it's your error, you need to own it.

Once you do that, the worst is past, and you can move forward towards a fix, or an apology.

"I did it."

Say this late (at most, softly and slowly) when there are compliments being handed out. When there is credit to be garnered, give it to the others—to the ones who helped you. Never forget how the work and sacrifice of others may have helped to bring you to where you are in this moment.

Follow these simple rules, and you may earn the respect of your peers ... and the loyalty of those who matter.
