Is It Wrong To Talk?

Riddle me this: When is it wrong to talk? When someone is lifting on the platform. When someone is praying. When someone is choking. Agreed. But is it wrong to discuss the pros and cons of exercise programs? Of P90X? Of CrossFit? Of Zumba? Or powerlifting, the elliptical, the Shake Weight, or the Sit-On-Your-A** Program? No. Discussion is good. It awakens us, emboldens us, spurs our mental activity, and makes us feel alive. It's like a WOD for the brain.People want to set rules on discussion because it can get out of hand. I can see that. Politics and religion are hot buttons -- not everyone wants to wade into those pools. But exercise? Really? Is exercise a hot-button topic like Republicans, Democrats, war, abortion, and marriage by gay folks?I say no. Maybe we get too wound around the axle sometimes. Maybe all we're talking about is a better way to sweat and grow strong and make your life fuller, healthier, longer, more fun, better. Maybe the fact that you're willing to talk about exercise -- even if you're not currently exercising -- is a good sign. And if you're working out and talking about working out? Win-win.So, debate. Talk. Argue. Bring your best, but be willing to listen too. It's all good. Let the mental games begin.
