On Ignorance

The popular saying is "You can't fix stupid" but that's not accurate.

You can educate people who want to learn, no matter what their intelligence level – and they can get smarter, in life and in the gym. They can make better choices. They can become stronger people in mind, muscle, and heart.

What you can't fix is ignorant by choice.

There's no cure for that.

I can't do it, you can't do it, nobody can do it. If someone does not want to learn, you can't teach them. If they willfully want to stay (maybe even revel) in their ignorance,  then you have to make a choice.

You, not them.

You have to decide if you have the time to fight this battle – or if your time is best spent helping someone who does want to learn.

Most of the time, I find it's more productive to move on to the people who want to get better.

Your mileage may vary.

But I do know there's no shortage of people to help in this world. Find them and do some good.
