Focusing on the Process

I don't like the words "process" or "product" but I used both of them in my video today. (Those words make me think of yellow cheese and hair gel. How about you? What thoughts do they bring up for you?)

I used those words because I think Austin Kleon has some good things to say about process and product in Chapter 2 of his book "Show Your Work." Basically, he says that whatever you're doing will be enhanced if you focus on the process instead of the product.

I'm going to go one step further and say your happiness will be enhanced if you focus on the process instead of the product, like this article illustrated recently: "Why So Many Smart People Aren't Happy."

Whether we're talking about what you're doing in the gym, in your work, or in your family life, everything will probably improve if you focus on the process instead of the product. We all sort of know that already, but like with almost everything in life, we forget, so we need to be reminded.

Focus on the process, and work your way to more happiness and success.
