The world is still cray-cray and many of us are heading down that path, too.
- I want to fight everyone … and I want to fight no one.
- I can see everyone’s point of view … and I can only see mine.
- I want a new normal … and I want the old normal back.
- I don’t give a damn … and I care so much everything hurts.
Do you live in my world? Everything is topsy turvy here, like some funhouse where the mirrors never really show the truth and the floor keeps moving up and down.
Life has become like one big emotional rollercoaster that keeps going. We’ve passed the departure point 500 times and we keep yelling but nobody can hear us because they’re screaming too and the gate attendants aren’t throwing a brake and letting us out of this uncomfortable harness and these red molded seats. Clack … clack … clack … we head up the hill again for another stomach-churning plunge.
Or maybe not.
Maybe we have the ability to pull ourselves off the ride for a little bit, to take a break, to jump on a kiddie ride or have a picnic or get a cool drink in this hot sun … but we’re just not doing it. And maybe those breaks are where we really save our minds and everyone around us.
- Is it too much?
- Is it not enough?
- Is it helping or hurting?
I can’t answer those questions for you. Only you can answer. So be truthful and really think about what you’re reading and sharing.
Are you helping the truth? Or are you feeding your own ego? And, if you’re angry, is your rage making life harder on you and your family?
Now, I’m not asking you to stop reading or watching or listening. Nobody needs a robot. It’s important to keep awake and informed.
And, mostly, step away regularly. Pedal a bike. Lift weights. Garden. Walk. Surf. Knit. Belly dance. Whatever.
Because nobody’s supposed to be on the ride this much. It’s not healthy for any of us. And now I’m going to power this machine down and press some dumbbells in my new favorite place on Earth: my garage.
What are you going to do?
