Sometimes, Stop Thinking and Lift
Want vs. desire. In CrossFit. In Life. Same thing or different?Boston Celtics legendary forward Paul Silas: "80% of rebounding is desire. You simply have to want the ball more than anyone else."But some Zen philosophy can be crudely squished into these words: Desire causes suffering. Eliminate desire and be happier.So what do I do about that 200lb front squat I want? Want it? Don't want it? Work towards it but don't desire it?Or is this way too confusing and I should just rack the bar on my shoulders and squat? Yup. Sometimes that's the answer: Less thinking and more lifting. Clear your mind and have at the WOD. "When walking, walk. When eating, eat." And I would add: "When CrossFitting, CrossFit." Ahhhh, that's much better.
