The Message You Send?
Are you what you wear?
I never really thought much about this until I was talking one night with CrossFit legend Greg Amundson and he really got me thinking more about what I put next to my skin.
Now, I'm not talking about shirt material or properties (although Greg has some specific ideas about that) but just about the messages I choose on my clothing and those of my kids.
Back East, we had attitude, lots of it, in big ways. My shirts said things like "Pull up or Shut Up" and "I'm Beating You" but those shirts sit at the bottom of my drawer now. I don't wear them much lately. Maybe I've become a CA hippie. Or a Reebok CrossFit hippie, because I do wear a lot of that stuff. And surf shop hoodies.
Not that I'm against attitude. Sometimes, you need it!
That CrossFit Brossard "Train to Kick Your Ass" shirt got me through many a workout! And, yeah, I still do like to pull on my CrossFit Scottsdale "Hi Hater/Bye Hater" shirt.
And I'm not super uptight on this issue: as I type this, one son is wearing a "Property of Alcatraz" t-shirt while the other wears something that says "CrossFit Affiliates" – let's sure hope these two balance each other out.
What's your take on t-shirt attitude in the CrossFit world?
