If You Did It Once, You Can Do It Again

The world spins fast, and you're not sure on any single day that you can do what anyone expects of you.

You look like you have your act together, but underneath (where you don't really talk about) you're kind of a mess. Running here. Flying there. Holding your breath in key moments like that could even help. Life keeps flowing and all you're doing is trying to keep the boat off the rocks.

But get this: you're surviving and you're doing.

And the good news is that you're probably harder on yourself than anyone else could ever be.

Here's this other cool thing: if you're on the path, you're not done. You're still in the game. And as long as you're still trying, as long as you haven't given up, then you've got hope. Like Vincent Van Gogh wrote, "I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart."

My point here is that if you're still in the game, then you are still doing.

And whatever it is that you're doing, if you've done it once, you can do it again. Whether we're talking about work or love or a snatch or a clean or a deadlift, the thought still applies: If you've done it once, you can do it again.

Think of that the next time you tell yourself "I can't" or "I have nothing to say" or "I can never make anything that good again."

Whether that's in your journal, in the gym, at work, or with your family. Whatever it is that you're doubting? Do it. Then do it again. And again. And again. You have more in you.

  • Kendrick Farris doesn't say "I snatched one time. No more."

  • Van Gogh didn't say, "Eh, I made a painting. Let's go back to selling stuff."

  • And J.K. Rowling didn't say after her first Harry Potter book, "Nah. I wrote about those kids too much already. I don't have anything left."

Each found more. That's your job too. Go find more. You did it once, you can do it again.

And if you've never done it? Even better. You get to celebrate your first one!
