What Will It Take For You To Be Happy?

This is not me. My happiness exists at lesser heights.

What will it take for you to be happy?

  • A new back squat PR?

  • A latte?

  • A beer?

  • A raise?

  • A new job?

  • A new love?

  • A new house?

  • A new life?

Or nothing at all. You are already happy. (Lucky you!)

Don't tell me a vacation to Tahiti. That's you trying to escape from your problems.

Dig deep, get uncomfortably real, and find your answers.

If I had asked myself this question seriously in my 30's (and listened to my own answer), I could have saved myself 10 years of angst. But I didn't. Don't be me. Be smarter.

Because if you don't know what will make you happy, then you need to figure it out.

No one can help you—not even the universe—if you don't know what you want and you're not working towards what you need. Life is like that old Joe Jackson song: "You Can't Get What You Want Until You Know What You Want."

Figure out the life you want.

Picture it, smell it, taste it, know it. Describe it back to yourself, like some buried treasure map you know by heart—because it is a map and it's you that you're trying to find, at least the part of you that you couldn't/wouldn't/didn't bring forth yet. Maybe the best part of you. Time will tell, if you follow the map.

Start moving towards your best life.
