Trust

Trust: it's so important.

  • Between you and the barbell

  • Between you and your gym-mates

  • Between you and your coach

Trust simply makes life better. You move and sleep easier knowing someone has your back.

But what happens when your trust is shattered?

When the barbell bounces and lands on your foot, when your friend screws you over, or when you find that your coach was wrong about something? What do you do then?

Some folks get bitter. Some folks get angry. Some folks decide never to trust again.

And some folks learn and move on.

They watch the barbell path the next time, learn to move their foot before it's smashed by an errant jerk, and they learn to move their heart before that too is smashed by an errant jerk.

We learn and we do better, whether it's in the gym or in our homes.

Maybe we keep our guard up a little longer, but we still know who we can lower it for—and that's the important part.

Because you can be the toughest mofo in the world, but a small heart will make you the weakest.

Strength and love: a hard balancing act. Work on both today—and work your weakness more.
